Supermoto USA NorCal Series round #5 - July 28-29

Altamont Motorsports Park - Altamont, CA

Round 5 took place at Altamont Motorsports Park in Altamont, CA. Supermoto USA has raced here before, but the track has made several improvements since our last visit. Most importantly, a new infield section that made for a great racecourse, even if the dirt section was a little small. I put in another strong ride in the Mini Motard class, coming home with a 1st place trophy. The highlight of the day was the fierce battle between myself and Casey Yarrow for 2nd place in the 450 class. I managed to hold off our series points leader and take home 2nd place honors. In Open Pro, I got a 3rd and a 4th, putting me 4th overall for the day.

Supermoto USA NorCal Series round #6 / AMA Vet Nationals

Aug 17-19 - Reno-Fernley Raceway - Fernley, NV

Round 6 was run in conjunction with the AMA Vet National Championships at one of our favorite tracks, Reno-Fernley Raceway. The course at Reno-Fernley is fast and flowing, with elevation changes and 2 good sized dirt sections. The AMA races were held on Saturday, and I took home the AMA Vet National Championship in the Vet Mini class. In the Vet 30+ class, I crashed in the heat race, leaving me 14th on the grid for the main. I fought my way through the pack eventually finishing 2nd. The Sunday Supermoto USA Norcal series event went well also. I clinched another win in the Mini Motard class, adding to my overall points lead. I made some mistakes in the 450 race though, and was only able to manage a 5th. For Open Pro, I got my head back in the game and went 5-4 for a 4th place overall finish.

Supermoto USA NorCal Series round #7

Sep 8-9 - Thunderhill Motorsports Park - Willows, CA

This was Supermoto USA's first visit to Thunderhill, and it's one of the best facilities we've seen. Brok and crew made an amazing dirt section, it was 50% of the track! The pavement section was plotted out in a fresh paved lot and it was tight and extremely technical, my favorite kind of track. This race was held at the same time that AFM was using the roadcourse, so it was good to get some exposure to some fans and racers that might not normally have had an opportunity to check out supermoto. I dominated the Mini Motard class once again, bringing home the win and defending my undefeated status on the CRF150R. In the 450 class I put in a solid ride and ended up 3rd. In Open Pro, I tucked in behind Casey Yarrow off the line in moto 1, and managed to hold off the rest of the pack finishing 2nd. In moto 2, I didn't get quite the start I did in moto 1, but I put in a good ride and ended up 4th. That put me in 3rd place for the overall, and has me sitting 2nd in the series points. I'm also sitting 2nd in the 450 class points, and comfortably in 1st in the Mini Motard class.
